MLB manager goes from the TSA line to the unemployment line.
Receiving a confirmation email for your next days’ flight is common place in the life of professional sports, having it happen in the middle of a four game road trip is not. Shortly after losing to the Pirates Monday night in Pittsburgh, the Atlanta Braves made the decision to fire their manager Fredi Gonzalez and booked his flight home for Tuesday when they planned on informing him of the axing. Technology however threw a wrench in their plan when just before bedtime Monday night (then) manager Gonzalez received an emailed confirming his flight back to Atlanta the next day. A flight he was obviously unaware of. While Gonzalez is not the first manager to be fired in his jammies, he is the first to be fired by an airline.
