The #Cubs’ 10-2 win evened the series at 2-2 and ensured it will move back to Chicago after Game 5 at Dodger Stadium on Thursday. And with the Cubs now owning home-field advantage in what will essentially be a best-of-three series and their offense again appearing like the world-class unit it was all season, they appear the favorite to move on to the franchise’s first World Series since 1945.
It started when Ben Zobrist led off the fourth with a bright idea that turned into a hit. Seeing Zobrist reach base on a bunt to start an inning loosened everybody up. Javy Baez and Willson Contreras singled, scoring Zobrist. After a Jason Heyward groundout scored Baez, Russell stepped up having gone 1-for-25 in the playoffs. With a swing of the bat, everything changed as he pounded the ball over the center-field fence for a two-run homer and a 4-0 Cubs lead. Leading off the fifth inning, Rizzo smashed a homer into the same area as Russell. In the seventh, Rizzo knocked in two more runs with a line-drive single, and in the eighth, he singled again for his third hit in a row. In the end the 3-4-5 guys — Rizzo, Zobrist and Baez went 6-for-13, with four RBI and four runs scored. The Cubs finished with 13 hits — two fewer than their total for Games 1 through 3.
