CUBS GET BACK IN THE SWING OF THINGS AT “WRIGLEY SOUTH”.

TAKE FIVE

1. Home runs by Heyward (solo) Rizzo (solo) Montero (3-run) and Bryant (2-run) got the Cubs off to an early lead.

2. Jake Arrietta (10-1) added two hits himself while allowing only four with two earned-runs through seven innings.

3. The victory marked the 11th time in 13 starts that the Cubs scored six or more runs while Arrieta was in the game.

4. Bryant now has 45 RBI’s, second most in the National League, while Rizzo is third with 44

5. Jon Lester takes the mound Sunday while righty John Gant and his funky delivery makes his first start for the Braves.

ATLANTA BRAVES HISTORY…which is nice.

June 12, 1983 – Before a game against the Giants, Dale Murphy visits with a six-year old in the stands who recently lost both arms and a leg due to a power line accident and is asked by the girl’s nurse if he could hit a home run for the injured child. The outfielder modestly answers “Well, Okay”, and then proceeds to hit two homers in the 3-2 Braves victory at Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium.
